October 2022 - March 2023
We raced the massive storm and rain event from Nuriootpa in South Australia back to the Gold Coast, via Balranald, Goulburn, Buladelah and Corindi and avoided any big issues.
Luckily for us, we have some great friends and family who came to our aid while Ava, the van, rested up with the other vans in Ashmore Storage.
Wendy and Steve always have a room for us and that was our first port of call on our return to the Goldie. It is still raining outside but we are warm and dry and being very well catered by Wendy and Steve - best breakkie ever on the first morning.
We caught up with the family and had another ripper time with the kids and grandkids. The 'kids" are both in their forties so .....
Our fellow Aging Adventurers, Jo-anne and Brad, have let us use their house in Maleny for a week or so while they are away. We love their place just outside Maleny in the "bush".
It absolutely pelted down with rain for nearly all of the next week and that suited us just fine. Some long-needed rest after a very long driving stint, having left originally on 2 February 2022.
The sun came out just as Wendy, Steve, Tanja and Gordon arrived for a couple of days with us. Too much wine and food, but never too much fun. We may be getting old, but we can still have a party!
My 70th birthday came and went with Julie, Melita, Shane and Tanja all putting on great events for me. I am not at all keen on being the centre of attention but did enjoy my time in the sun.
Then we did family things until we headed off on the Queensland stage of the Big Lap in April 2023, with our aim to get to the Threeways in the Northern territory via Mt Isa.
(I've used different photo galleries to experiment with before the next section of the Travel Blog. Just mucking about below.)
