Uncle Alec

Uncle Alec was killed in action at Merdjayoun, Syria on 19 June 1941.

Studio portrait above of my Uncle Alec who was killed in Syria in 1941, aged 26 years. Incredibly brave man. Left behind a wife with three young children.

His company commander, QX6378 Captain Richard Harold Marson DSO, wrote the following in the Battalion War diary:

"I would especially like to recommend that the dashing leadership and fearless example of QX10713 Cpl Henderson J. A. be recognized.

He is believed to have been killed leading an attack on a machine gun post..."
